Raffert formed relationships with every first family he worked for, including the Carters, and prepared their Sunday dinners after church.

This photograph of White House cooks Katherine Buckley and Hannah Heffernan was taken in 1926. Both women, immigrants from Ireland, began working at the White House that same year. Buckley would work in the Kitchen until 1933 while Heffernan worked until around 1930. They are photographed on the South Lawn of the White House Grounds with the South Portico behind them, possibly around Easter.

The group is photographed sitting on the steps to the South Portico of the White House. Buckley worked in the Kitchen from 1926 to 1933, Rodenhauser as both a kitchen assistant and cook from 1922 to 1929, and Heffernan from 1926 until around 1930.

This photograph of White House cook Katherine Buckley was taken in 1928. Buckley moved to the United States from Ireland in the early 1900s to cook for American banker J.P. Morgan. While working there she impressed Morgan guest and future president Calvin Coolidge. She was eventually invited to join the White House Kitchen staff by First Lady Grace Goodhue Coolidge in 1926. She would work at the White House through the Herbert Hoover administration, leaving in 1933.

This photograph of White House gardener George Field appeared in the September 3, 1925 edition of The Florists' Review. Field immigrated from London, England and began working at the White House shortly thereafter, in 1875, during the Ulysses S. Grant administration. He remained in this position for two years before pursuing a successful business as a florist in the Washington, D.C. area.

This photograph of White House cook Louise W. Jongbloet was taken around June 26, 1926. Jongbloet, who immigrated to the United States from Belgium in 1907, replaced outgoing White House cook Martha Peterson Mulvey in June 1925. She left her position after about a year in service.

This photograph of White House coachman Charles H. Lee was published in the January 7, 1906 edition of The Washington Post in a feature on the White House stable. Lee began working at the White House circa 1901 during the Theodore Roosevelt administration. He was tasked with transporting President Roosevelt and his family in carriages and cared for their horses. When Roosevelt's presidency ended in 1909, Lee moved with the Roosevelt's to Sagamore Hill, where he continued to work for the family until 1934.

This article and accompanying photograph of White House chauffeur William Miller appeared in the July 3, 1955 edition of the Evening Star. The article announced Miller's retirement after over thirty years working at the White House. More commonly known as "Boots", Miller began working in the White House garage around 1918. He was promoted to superintendent of the garage in 1940 before retiring in 1955.

This photograph of White House florist and gardener Bartholomew J. Curran appeared in the December 12, 1958 edition of the Evening Star. "Bartie" Curran began working at the White House around 1917 as a florist. He was eventually promoted to foreman in the White House greenhouses, a position he held until around 1940.

This photograph of White House Chief Usher Howell G. Crim appeared in the September 25, 1942 edition of The Coolidge Examiner. Crim, an employee with the Veterans' Administration, was assigned to the White House as an assistant usher in 1930 and was promoted to Chief Usher in 1938. He retired in 1957.

This photograph of White House cook Martha Peterson Mulvey was printed in the April 22, 1910 edition of The Washington Times. Her photograph was featured in a wedding announcement alongside her new husband, White House policeman James Mulvey. Peterson Mulvey began working at the White House in 1909 when she was hired by First Lady Helen Herron Taft. She had previously worked from notable Americans including J. Pierpont Morgan. She would continue to work at the White House until around 1933.

This is a portrait photograph of White House housekeeper Ellen A. Riley. Riley was hired by First Lady Grace Goodhue Coolidge and joined the White House Residence staff in July 1926 following the departure of Elizabeth A. Jaffray. She left the White House shortly after President Calvin Coolidge and Mrs. Coolidge left office in March 1929.
