Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 provided redress for the Japanese Americans incarcerated during World War II. Okabayashi was one of seven surviving Japanese American World War II veterans President Obama met with that day at the White House. In 2010, President Obama signed into law the legislation passed by Congress to reward the Congressional Gold Medal to the 33,000 second-generation Japanese American soldiers who fought in World War II. The Congressional Gold Medal is among the highest civilian awards given by the United States government.

Her appearance on the live televised Oscar ceremony was filmed in the Diplomatic Reception Room on the Ground Floor of the White House. The winner of Best Picture, "Argo", was a film about the rescue of six United States diplomats who sought safety at the home of the Canadian ambassador to Iran during the 1979 to 1981 Iran Hostage Crisis in Tehran.

In this photograph by Pete Souza, White House Executive Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier and assistant pastry chef Franette McCulloch pose with a cake made for a celebration of President Ronald Reagan's 77th birthday. The top of the cake is decorated with horses, a saddle, chocolate presidential seals, and chocolate horseshoes. The decorations are likely a reference to President Reagan's love of horses and Rancho del Cielo, his California ranch where his horses roamed free. Bin Laden was the leader of the terrorist group al Qaeda, who were responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. His death was carried out through a military mission led by members of the United States Navy SEALs.
