Local schoolchildren and military families were invited to take part in family-friendly activities on the South Grounds, including photo opportunities, a display of a space suit and other objects by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Junior Ranger Explorer booklets and stickers by the Department of the Interior, and the chance to check out unusual vehicles such as a tractor from the Department of Agriculture, a postal truck from the United States Postal Service, and the presidential limo, popularly known as "the Beast." Guests also enjoyed renditions of popular movie themes and Halloween tunes performed by the United States Air Force Strolling Strings.

    This photograph of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the 2023 Official White House Christmas tree arrival at the North Portico of the White House was taken by Matthew D'Agostino on November 20, 2023. The tree was delivered by horse-drawn carriage and carefully escorted to the Blue Room, where it remained on display for the holiday season. Dr. Biden welcomed the 18.5-foot Fraser Fir from Fleetwood, North Carolina, along with the children of military families who were given the opportunity to touch the horses and tree and pose with it. Since 1966, the Christmas tree displayed in the Blue Room has been presented to the White House following a contest run by the National Christmas Tree Association. The winners of this year's contest were Amber Scott and Alex Church of Cline Church Nursery.
